Originality, Style, and Quality
Originality, style, and quality are synonymous with San Francisco Clothing and its designer-owners Howard and Mindy Partman. San Francisco’s forward-looking designs have been recognized in Vogue, Glamour, The New York Times, and Women’s Wear Daily, among others.
In 1967, Howard Partman opened the clothing store “San Francisco New World Clothing Trust” in New York City. This trendy boutique was one of the first in the city to cater to young people, presenting a mix of items like antique sweaters, cowboy shirts, and Mustang jeans.
In 1973, San Francisco Clothing moved to its present location on Lexington Avenue at 70th Street and offered a whole new look: the evolving classic. San Francisco specialized in Harris Tweed riding jackets, Austrian Loden, Scottish Fair Isle sweaters, and shirting for men and women. Howard’s passion for shirting translated into a huge fashion trend, giving women a fresh twist on the traditional menswear look.
Mindy’s passion for helping women feel ever more confident and comfortable through clothing has led the Partmans to develop designs that are both fashionable and wearable. Pockets are a must! A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York with expertise in merchandizing and marketing, Mindy previously worked at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lord and Taylor. She is co-visionary, designer, merchant, and muse.
Howard and Mindy have worked together for over 35 years and counting, combining their skills, passions, and visions to create something far greater than the sum of their individual parts. San Francisco Clothing is part store, museum, living room, and salon. The clothing the Partmans create is their art.
